I loved Joan for lots of reasons from long ago. I remember her shouting on the touchline of a netball court whilst hugging me as I cried about my parents' split, and taking my views seriously. I still have, in a treasure box, a dress she bought me in C+A aged 16! I took her to the Edinburgh tattoo. Such a big heart and big character. Honoured to have called her my friend.
